I am pretty sure everyone who played survival games wanted them to be on a mobile device. This way when base is attacked you can easily log in and defend it from anywhere, instead of trying to get back home to the PC asap to do that. And thats where Project EVO comes into play.

Project EVO gameplay
Project EVO is a fullscale survival game with crafting, building, pvp, teams/guilds, raids and so on. You have everything you might expect from a survival game in the palm of your hand.
If you are not a familiar with a open world survival genre here is a basic recap. You punch tree, get some wood, craft basic tools from it, cut trees, mine stones, get even better tools, mine iron, hunt animals and cut some more trees. At this point you start building a base, with crafting stations, storage and so on. Then after you play it a little bit more and you feel confident you can explore the area and fight other players, but in the most cases raid their bases to get their stashed loot.
Project EVO have all that and more, you also have mounts that you can ride, you can fight NPC mobs that will help you to level up. You can also raid some npc bases to get good loot. You will need those loot pieces to upgrade your base, learn new crafting recipes and so on.
Project EVO Combat
Most of the combat in Project EVO will be ranged. You can get a bow as soon as you start the game, and its a basic ranged weapon. Moreover soon enough you will learn how to craft bullets and get a gun. So you should master your mobile aiming and shooting skills as soon as possible.
Even though there are a lot of ranged combat that doesnt make melee weapons useless. You can use them to save ammo when fighting weak zombies, or in the situations when you run out of ammo. So its a good idea to always be prepared.
Enemies are divided into 3 categories:
- Peaceful NPCs like animals, that usually try to run away from you if you damage them
- Aggressive NPCs like zombies, that will attack you as soon as you get close to them
- Players. You can expect anything from other players, but I think most of them would like to kill you, loot your dead body and try to find a way into your base.
Enemy NPCs will have all type of special attacks and abilities. Ranging, blowing up on death, armored and so on. Be careful of enemies that you dont know, since they can surprise you. In a bad way.
Project EVO Pros and Cons
Its time to move on to Project EVO Pros and Cons.
Pros
- Complex gameplay. You have a lot of different options on how to play the game, research trees, building material types and so on.
- Great graphics. Project EVO uses Unreal Engine 5. This means top notch graphics, if your phone can handle it
- Open world sandbox. Go where you want, do what you wish. But be careful, others will do as they wish as well
Cons
- Controls. If you will be playing on the phone and your opponent will get phone addons that will emulate the controller behavior you will be at a disadvantage
- You will have to go to your base to log off and be safe. Its a normal practice, but makes the game more hardcore. If you were playing on the go and lost connection, your character is in danger.
- Prolonged game sessions. Same as above. You would like to plan ahead and make sure that you can leave your base and come back in one session.
- No PvE Servers. For casual gamers PvE servers without base raiding and free PvP might be a good option.
Project EVO Verdict
After playing it for a few days I can say that its a solid game, specifically for people who like Survival genre. I am personally more of a PvE guy, so that feeling of danger lurking around the corner spicing things up a little bit. Graphics are great, gameplay is fun and I cant stop riding my horse around those ruins and looking for a better loot.
